An Englishman in Grasse

This is my blog about Grasse, how and why it developed over hundreds of years, what can still be seen of the perfume industry in and around the Old Town, people who lived, worked and/or died here, interesting buildings and anything else about the town which takes my fancy. You can see my four most recent posts below.

A little about me
My Interest in Grasse and its History
I'm Tom Richardson. I'm English, but I've lived in Grasse for twenty five years, originally running a marketing agency not far away, and now retired. I'm interested in how Grasse came to be located here, in the extraordinary way in which it has adapted to changing times and technologies and in seeing how many aspects of its history, especially in the perfumery business, are still around if you know where to look.

These blogs are in no particular order: they're mostly just what I have happened to research, although in some cases, they're based on walks guided by some of the dedicated staff of the commune of Grasse.
